When you come from the Etesam family, construction and architecture take on a different meaning. Engineer Mehrdad Etesam is an official and certified translator of the Document Office and a member of the Judicial Arbitration Board in the city of Alanya, Turkey. He is the son of Professor Siavash Etesam, a pilot, and his father was a retired professor of structural engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. He is also the nephew of Dr. Iraj Etesam, a renowned and contemporary Iranian architect. Iraj Etesam obtained his doctoral degree in architecture from the University of Florence, Italy. His great-grandfather, “Etesam al-Molk,” was a Qajar agent in Gorgan, and his grandfather was a city guard officer.
Many architects around the world have lived or are currently living, who have influenced the world of architecture with their unique style of work, thinking, and extraordinary works. Among the renowned global architects, Iranian architects also hold a high position, and many of them are a source of pride for Iran. One of these architects is Iraj Etesam. With an unparalleled range of works, from Shah Cheragh to Mellat Park, from Berkeley to San Jose, he is a memorable figure from an unparalleled generation. Dr. Iraj Etesam was also a member of numerous organizations and institutions that benefited from his knowledge and experience. These organizations include the Association of Iranian Architectural Masters, international societies in Greece, the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Planners, the International Society for the Study of Traditional Environments, and the International Federation for Housing and Planning. Since 1971, he has been a senior regional planner for the United Nations, and since 1973, a member of the Official Experts Association of the Judiciary. Professor Siavash Etesam has also been involved in numerous civil engineering projects in northern Iran, alongside urban development.
Undoubtedly, Siavash and Iraj Etesam had a rich and meaningful life. Their childhood was spent in conversation and play with the beloved poet, painter, and writer Sohrab Sepehri (an amazing friendship between Siavash and Iraj, architects of dreams whose buildings touched the sky, and Sohrab, whose words penetrated hearts and conquered souls). Their youth was dedicated to nurturing an innovative generation of students. Dr. Etesam is one of the few individuals who has made great efforts in research and the expansion of architectural and urban knowledge in Iran. Above all, his presence in the realm of educating and training architects and urban planners of recent generations is evident. This presence continued until the last months of his precious life. He was a well-rounded and noble intellectual without any pretentiousness.
Dr. Etesam’s main theories on architecture have been expressed as follows: “Preserving identity, rational energy consumption, and employing advanced technology are the main key factors in contemporary architecture worldwide.”
Mehrdad Etesam has also strived to prioritize these factors in the real estate sector since the early days of his activity in the company. Just as Iraj and Siavash Etesam were among the most concerned individuals for contemporary architecture in Iran, the CEO of Travek has always placed the creation and expansion of a superior brand as one of the main goals of the company and has worked towards achieving this goal to shine not only in serving Iranians but also people of other nationalities..
